- Bro, people crave your attention
Bro, people crave your attention
But you don't see it.
Hey what’s up?
I hope you’re doing well bro.
Today I wanna talk about something very special.
Because it’s something everyone can implement.
To make it simpler.
Let me tell you a story…
I’m 11.
And my mom asked my cousin if he could take me with him.
She’d go to a specific place with her mind free.
My cousin my 14.
And he had a kind of meet-up with his friends.
So I was the little nerd in the middle of 5 “big guys”.
I was amazed.
I felt like a real nerd at this moment.
But you know what?
I crave their attention.
Because when people desire something you have, they’ll crave your attention.
They are ready to do almost anything.
“But Adam, how does it apply to community building?”
It means that you can get fans the “easy way”.
And I’m going to show you how.
1/ The unfair advantage.
A few days ago I came across a post from Audrey Lo.
She was launching her private community.
In a few hours, it got +200 likes.
Better than most giveaways.
Yet it was just a basic tweet with a plug-in below.
Now where do you think I want to go?
Her unfair advantage.
Audrey is known as the “community expert” for most people.
And before her, not so many people talked about it.
Can you get this?
Whatever your unfair advantage is…
If it doesn’t sound like a king inviting you into his palace, it’s not good enough.
2/ The context.
Audrey has 2 things.
An unfair advantage, but also authority (credibility if you prefer).
She has been in the area for a few months already.
Talked about community from the beginning.
And already had a background.
So she was already comfortably installed.
One thing I didn’t tell you was the shop I went to with my cousin…
It was a place they used to go.
See?
So they had as Audrey the 2nd unfair advantage: The place.
Remember this:
If this place doesn’t sound like your home, it’s not your place.
3/ The reward.
Good.
But there’s no point if your guest can benefit from it.
You need a reward.
Something people would crave for.
Let me tell you something.
If you can’t promise anything in return for this investment, then your value is worth nothing.
For Audrey, her promise was better networking opportunities and more value.
For my cousin, it was hanging out with “high-quality” people from my point of view.
Even Lego followed this framework.
If you go to their website you can (Idk how) submit your invention with the Lego.
And the ones getting above 10,000 upvotes get manufactured and you become the designer of one of their product.
Result? You got recognized for your talent.
Now imagine if Lego, a company worth over $100 billion does it.
What’s gonna be the impact at your scale?
Let me answer that for you.
If you do it well: Huge.
Thank you for reading through.
If you have anything you want me to dig in, reply to this email or DM me (2 works better).
I wish you a great day bro.
Peace up,
Adam.
